Kid's Basic Kung Fu (ages 9 & up)

 Kid's Basic Kung Fu is
designed to, among many things, build imagination, build body and individual confidence, provide self-discipline, and finally teach partnership & cooperation in problem-solving. Finally, it teaches basic concepts and approaches to martial arts through self-defense.
Shereel Washington studied White Crane Silat Indonesian Kung Fu under Peter Ajemian at Soja Mind Body where she serves as a trainer in the youth martial arts program. Over the past two years she has developed a successful introductory martial arts curriculum for young children called Martial Arts Kids Play (MAKP), which is being taught in after school programs and family fitness studios in the Bay Area. Shereel continues her martial arts training under Master Sheldon Callahan in Shaolin Kung Fu at Shaolin Life in Oakland, CA.

This class is an exploration of rhythm, shapes, timing, structure, and aliveness all set to cool music. The warm up is a gentle opener to help prepare the body for moving and breathing.
